I'm interested in making my own cocktails, probably going to buy a boston shaker this week, but I don't know what I should make first or what brands go best for which cocktails

What is everyones cocktail of choice?

moscow mules, pimm's cup(both in the summer), scotch on the rocks with a few drops of water. When I am on medication I drink wine spritzers with Sauvingon Blanc and seltzer.
