It's not considered an outstanding rum in the scheme of international taste tests and awards. It's considered pretty smoky and wood aged. I have no knowledge of smoothness. This might be a bit too anejo aged flavored for some mixer applications, where the age flavoring comes through, but still not smooth enough for straight up great sipping rum. It's middle of the road, I'm afraid.

Don't let the country of origin make a big difference to you. It's long been the case that great rums aren't necessarily from the island that grew the sugarcane. Flor de Cana is highly rated always, and so is appleton VX. Haitian rum, the always good Barbancourt and dominican rum is both grown over on the Haiti side. A good amount of rums are from imported molasses. One thing that stands above is smoothness. You decide if you want a flavorless mixer of white, golden, dark or bermudan black, and to what degree you want that molasses flavor combined with whiskey wood and smoke added.

Go to a site like this when you have really no clue what to buy. http://www.iwsc.net/results2010

Im the boyfriend in question, thanks for all the info. Will take a look at the link too. First time on rum, Im a whisky man, you see.

I was considering two, since it came down to which had the best looking bottle, I went with the Havana Club - how's Kraken compared to the Havana 7?

Kraken is delicious. It's very sweet, much more so than a lot of the other dark rums I've tried. Not sickly sweet like a fruity cocktail, but the molasses comes through loud and clear.

Sounds alright
To be honest, when I saw the bottle and price, it appeared to me as the Jack Daniels of the rum world
Guess I was off there

because idiots are among us.

that's one of the cool things about life. dealing with idiots in such a way that we prosper.

all successful people know this, and use it to their benefit. liberals try to keep this knowledge and power secret, so they can exploit it for their own advantage. that is why liberals are evil and must be destroyed.

BTW my personal favorite rum that I've ever tried is probably Ron Cartavio XO. Shit's amazing. I really want to try the 25-year El Dorado but it's like 450 bucks a bottle even in the Carribean.

Rum/Whiskey and coke is designed to mask the flavor of the spirit and thus allow you to get drunk faster. It's not a good drink to drink for taste particularly. Gin and Tonic is, just like a well-made old fashioned, whiskey sour, or sazerac cocktail is, for instance.

That said, you still shouldn't use really high quality whiskey in those things unless you've got a lot of money, save the good shit for sipping. But it does make a difference to use good whiskey.

Please refrain from mentioning your sex and/or gender while visiting /ck/. Although you may not be aware of this (although I think you are), many people posting on 4chan are not in an intimate relationship.

Therefore, referring to your femininity can be highly offensive to others, as they visit /ck/ to have fun and intellectual discourse, not to be reminded of their shortcomings (as perceived by society).

I hope you remember this in the future and refrain from using any key words that can be used as gender identifiers. It really is not that much to ask and will prevent threads from degenerating into flame/troll disasters.

Some of us also choose to be single and our virginity is not a badge of shame. The inherent superficial and highly opportunistic behavior of women is not attractive to every male, and therefore we do not have to be constantly reminded of your kind while on /ck/. It is not necessary and can be considered, "attention whoring" (a very just term).

Thank you very much,

- /ck/

Nope. As the inventor (and sole poster, it seems) of this copypasta I can verify that I only post it a couple times a week, max.

Then again, the first time I post many tl;dr neckbeard posts people often say "nice copypasta I've seen it before" even though I just made it up.
