I need help finding a long lost childhood favorite

Imagine the following

>hot, crispy bread loaf, like a baguette
>shaved beef (almost like roastbeef) , hot and peppery and greasy as fuck
>maybe cheese, or maybe the way the bread interacted with the meat made the bread creamy instead
>wrapped in tin foil
>put in a box
>given to you

Last time I had it was almost 20 years ago, and the memory constantly haunts me.

I need a name so i can find a local place

You could be talking about a reuben (which is made with pastrami, a shaved cured beef that's hot and peppery) and the relish just seeped into the bread to make it "creamy". Reubens are usually toasted too.

Could be a Philly cheesesteak too.

Reuben recipes are more consistent and easier to make, but asking for a good Philly cheesesteak recipe is tentamount to starting a shitstorm in most parts of the US.

Philly cheesteak

Roast beef, cheese (american (white) or provolone), options that are grillled: onion, green peppers, mushrooms.

I personally go as far to get a thin layer of mayo which adds to the creamyness of the sandwich
