Is crab season over or still going on right now?

>> No.4149130

Not really. I'd rather have crab bisque.

only if they have big ass chunks of crab and not those tiny flakes.

>> No.4149200

i fucking love crab cakes. one of my favorite foods. and unfortunately one of the few things i have trouble making well.

>> No.4149205

those look horrible OP. real crab cakes are made with jumbo lump crab meat. those look like they are using a lower grade meat, and too much filler

>> No.4149222

Hell yes! The nice thick ones with a mix of the small stuff studded with jumbo lumps and not a lot of filler.

I love crab cakes, so long as they aren't as burned and...out of focus. There's so much blur i bet they taste funny.

there are many foods which taste great when they get that brown, but your crab cakes are overcooked

>> No.4150528

There are probably only one or two on that plate that aren't completely burnt.

Use a lower heat and be more diligent next time.

Haha nah. I love crab meat and crunchy food in general. My family took me to a sushi restaurant and we tried those spider rolls before and I loved biting into the soft shelled crab in it. Never knew other food implemented it. Thanks I will have to remember that!

>> No.4150673

i love crabs, i really do. that being said, when its prepared a certain way, i don't really like it. i don't like crab when its fried, and i don't really like soft shell crab all that much. also when something is stuffed with crab, i often find myself wishing i was just eating the crab. not always but sometimes. my favorite way to cook crab is to cover them in old bay and steam them. yummy

>> No.4150729

we have this small boating canal here, all it does is connect the marina to the bay. the water is not very deep and it is polluted to fuck, there is always a slick of oil on top of it from the boats going in and out all day.
there was this guy who used to always set his crab trap there, he spent every day for of the summer for years pulling crabs up from that water, sometimes a hundred a day and he would freeze them and eat them through out the whole year.

he died of stomach cancer recently, I cant help but think that thats probably why.

What does Dungeness taste like.

The only crab I've ever had is Blue, Snow and King.

Its sweeter and more rich than most other crab. A pretty strong flavor, but they are pretty labor intensive to crack and eat. Delicious though.

Is there even meat in that crab cake? That's like the shit they sell at McDonalds near Ocean City.

Jumbo. Lump. Only use the delicious meat from the back legs of blue crabs. As little breading as possible.
