Going to Japan for 6 months for work. I absolutely love beef, probably eat it 5 days out of 7. The other 2 is fish. I heard that those two things are the most expensive compared to other foods.

Will I go broke there? I'll eat chicken or pork but don't care for it.

If those guys from an undeveloped countrie with low wages can get churrasco every week why do you think you couldn't?

I'm aware of beef bowl places and will liekly hit up those places many times.

So Australian beef is cheaper. Is there any difference in quality for the same cut?

>fish
>expensive in Japan

Japan is an island. Fish will be the cheapest meat you can find. Maybe high-quality sushi grade fish is expensive but if you're cooking your fish I can't imagine it's very costly

No Idea. I'm very flexible on my diet and since I was in Japan I wanted to try as many Japanese stuff as possible.

Thanks to Fukushima's nuclear problems, fish should be even cheaper than it already is.

this, 100%.
Sure, Japan is known for super-expensive sushi and so on, but there is plenty of cheap fish available.

OP, do you know where in Japan you'll be working? See what the local options are.

By the way, not all Japan in expensive. Tokyo is expensive but in other places not so much. I have been in Auckland and I think it was more expensive there than it was in Shizuoka.

Aren't yakiniku relativity cheap? I mean they mostly use the garbage parts of the cow.
