Just got myself a bottle of this, should I open it or should I store it and sell/drink it later?

>> No.4103085

it's not wine
drink it now

>> No.4103088

Even though it's been discontinued? I imagine it will only go up in value if stored properly.

>> No.4103092

It tastes like ass. Sell it.

>> No.4103097

drink it. do you really want it taking up space while it slowly appriciates? drink it now i will have a few beers and we can both have a good time and see where it goes.

Why would it go up in value? You don't think they'll make more?

>> No.4103129

It's always nice to have a bottle for when plebs visit. If anyone ever comes to your basement I mean.

No, liquor companies generally don't begin production of a discontinued line, and if they did, it would not be similar to the original line.

If you want to sell it, you'll have to wait for decades. Something that's just been discontinued is only valuable to serious collectors a good 30-40 years after. Not to mention the fact that this wasn't exactly a special bottling of Bruichladdich or anything. There were truckloads of this stuff.

That being said, it's about the only release I've ever liked from JW, so I suggest drinking it slowly.

Hmm, I suppose that is a good point, I guess I can just open it up on New Years or something.

Also, nice collection, do you order your collection? Just wondering why you keep those brands on the top shelf.

>> No.4103141

open it and take silly pics of you with a lampshade on your head and post them

Not my collection, just an old pic. Mine is sitting in a pantry, as I have yet to find a good cabinet like that. The only one I saw that was similar in style was 3 grand.

Blended scotch, huh? We don't have blended scotch in my house. Single malt, all the way.

If you want a real man's whisky, try Lagavulin. It'll put hair on your chest.

Whiskey snobs are the worst. And IMO the poeple wich don't really enjoy whiskey

We're not talking about whiskey. We're talkin' about whisky. And islay single malt whisky is smooth as silk.

But it has bite to it.

I do enjoy the single malts, I'm actually enjoying a glass of Drambuie right now.

And yeah, I do agree, a nice blended whiskey is generally harder to find, but I just picked this up because I heard it's the last of its kind and it was the best of the bunch.

I'm a rye whiskey convert. Scotch can go suck a duck.

Slightly related, I had a bottle of Bulleit Whiskey once. Then I tried the Bulleit Rye and it was so much better.

>> No.4103750

Um...islay scotch tastes like rusty rubbing alcohol. And by definition, if it's smooth, it doesn't have any bite.

>>4103514
I AM a whiskEy snob and even I can't stand 95% of scotch WHISKY. But a good Irish or Rye? Damned fine poteen, that....

>> No.4103792

>>4103750
Whisky can have a smooth flavor and still bite. It's all about harshness, the slow burn, so on and so forth.

But hey. You stick with your whiskey. More scotch for me.

>>4103714
Pleb.

And just to be fair, I like bourbon, too. But scotch is practically my mistress.
