How's your local beer, /ck/?

Mine is Terrapin (Athens, GA). The Rye Pale Ale is nice and tasty, but the Golden Ale is a little underwhelming. I haven't gotten to try their multitudes of special offerings.

We have Badger Beers and Palmers Brewery, which are the best local ones. Badger is pretty much Nationwide. You can find Tanglefoot in most supermarkets. Palmers is a local Microbrewery you only really see at CAMRA festivals.

Can this be a Beer General thread, too? Pic related - it's my Christmas cache, along with novelty Belgian glassware.

Euros tend to go in for the large, foaming head that's 30-50% of the glass, especially French and Belgians. Quebecois folks might have adopted the same style in their beer quaffing ways.

This is about as non-local as it gets for me (other than crappy Asia brews), but Goose Island wheat beer was very nice and refreshing. Pretty light and a short after-taste, but still enjoyable.

>> No.4092086

The beer itself is nothing really special. It's nice, but the glass is the party piece. Like a real yard of ale, you have to watch for the air bubble breaking the seal of the liquid in the bell, because then it suddenly all pours out in one go.

I know a a pub that used to have Kwak glasses, but last time I went in, they served it in a normal glass and said they had all been broken.. The problem is that people get them when they are drunk, and absent-mindedly try to stand the round bottomed glass onto the bar or table and not back in the scaffold(!)

Drinking this now. Anyone who likes a challenging beer, track down Duchesse de Bourgogne. If you can acquire the taste for that then you can pretty much drink any beer.

this is no racist emblem btw, the owner of the frist brewery had the name "Mohr", which, if translated, depicts a name for a dark skinned person in an old mannered way.

Here in Salt Lake City we have Wasatch and Epic breweries.
Epic is good for a strong tasting beer that still adhears to the 4.0% utah standard. Wasatch I prefer though for their Pumpkin Ale, Kolob (Mormon sci-fi heaven apparently) and their Polygamy Ale (Slogan: "Why just have one?").

Get yer panties out of your ass, because Kansas City to Wichita is not a huge distance and 'local' enough considering we're talking about Kansas here.

Empyrean Brewing Company is my local brewery. I have never been impressed with the restaurant they were associated with, so I don't drink Empyrean beers often enough, but I have enjoyed their Burning Skye Scottish Style Ale and Luna Sea Extra Bitter.
