Hey /ck/! I'm visiting NYC soon, what should I eat?

I probably going to have a Shake Shack burger, but what else is good (and cheap)?

>> No.4083318

Kenka in the east village for yakitori. Try the yellow tail neck and onomniyaki.

Baohaus for bao buns

Ippudo for ramen in union square

Chelsea market has some interesting eats at yuppie prices.

Don't go to shake shack.you can get fat food burgers at McDonald's.

Rosario Pizza makes some fantastic food. Make sure to try the garlic rolls. Unless your to scare to go into a puerto rican neighborhood. Who am I kidding it's probably all white 20 somethings by now.

OP here.

>>4083318

Yeah I've seen Baohaus in a Vice video, looks good!

Can you really compare Shake Shack (pic related) to McDonalds?

>>4083333

Holy shit, pizza! Of course! I'm from Montreal and decent pizza is so hard to come by!

>> No.4083438

Go to Joe's Shanghai and get the soup dumplings. Thank me later.

(I've heard there are better one's elsewhere, but Joe's has never let me down.)

Also Hide Chan ramen.

53rd and 6th Halal Cart!

Yakiniku at Oh! Taisho on St. Marks

Get a kimcheesesteak from the Kimchi Taco Truck at Astor Place.

Get an artichoke pizza from Artichoke

Get mind numbingly hot lamb and fried noodles from Xian Famous foods (also on St. Marks)

Don't forget falafel and shawarma from Mamouns (either on St. Marks or Macdougal).

If you are near the Met go to Mama Gyros at 78th and Lexington dont forget to get halva if they have it!

fuck yes, so delicious.

also, rice to rices near lafayette and broome in manhattan (i don't know, i'm not a local) is fucking AMAZING

not a fan of shake shack, it all tastes bland and like shitty cheese to me. but their shakes are good.

The one with the cheese stuffed fried portobello on top is pretty darn good.

get rekt

setaya or whatever down near union square is the best. Momofuku is overpriced for their ramen, they do have decent pork buns etc but thats their only good thing.

Prosperity Dumpling

46 Eldridge St. Chinatown

$1 for 5 decent-sized delicious dumplings, either fried or steamed. They have other Chinese food as well such as duck pancakes and many more. I can over-eat there for less than $10.

>> No.4084584

I go to naruto or terakawa for ramen depending on where I am (they are owned by the same guy)
if you care about authenticity at all then naruto is the place you will go to, its exactly like it is in japan. unlike all the other ramen places in the city they do not charge you out the ass, a bowl is like $8 there, $2.50 for beer at dinner time, mondays its half off ramen, wednesdays its half off gyoza.

Other was a really good Italian place in lower Manhattan near pier 17 called Acqua. It was close to the east river, so it may be closed now.

If its open though, get the lamb risotto.

Around the city there's a shitload of carts that sell halal shit that is fucking delicious. You get this chicken/lamb/gyro/cat/rat meat and rice with hot sauce and this tzaki style sauce. Sometimes they throw in felafel and some fries along with lettuce and a tomato or something. It depends on the place.

Pic fucking related.

Katz’s Delicatessen! I always go there when I visit NYC. Best sandwiches you'll ever eat.

>> No.4085352

>>4085255
No.

Katz's is the most over-rated, overpriced pleb-tier restaurant I have ever been in. The only people who go there are stupid tourists and frat-goons. Go into any other Jewish deli and it will most likely be better and much cheaper.

Life is too short to not eat food truck food. If your stomach is a bad enough dude, then take chances on the side-street vendors. Look for a truck called "Monster Truck", ridiculously good food with innovative ideas. If you feel really bold (and have access to a kitchen), hit up a Chinese/Russian supermarket (Net Cost Market is AMAZING). It's cheap, it's fresh, and it's delicious.
