Sup /ck/ hope you guys are enjoying your day. My family has asked me to cook for them on Christmas Eve so I'm looking for some ideas on holiday cooking. Any help would be appreciated

With my family we eat the same kind of thing at Christmas as at Thanksgiving...turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. save for desserts, which tend to be more traditionally Christmas.

spiral sliced ham
garlic mashed potatoes
redeye gravy (google it)
rice a roni (toast the dry rice in a pan before adding water, when it smells nutty you're good)

Assuming you're having a huge Christmas dinner the next day, I'd avoid anything similar or heavy. A nice squash soup with some home baked crusty bread maybe?

We always order pizza on Christmas eve.

I think it's a tradition that was started by dad having pity on mom for having to do all the prep for chrismas dinner with four squalling kids that suddenly want to eat NOW.

Judging by how long delivery takes, I think many others have this tradition.

not entirely traditional, but a french onion soup (bread bowls and all) could be a hit

cook the same thing as every other year, christmas is no time for having a good time and experimenting on the kitchen. make the same fucking dull shit you ate every other year,

Don't be like that, guy. The person has an authentic Christmas dinner, it's too much to ask to have one on Christmas Eve too.
