I would have no use for it, I get the haagen dazs banana split icecream. it has fudge swirls running through it and the icecream is banana, cherry, and cream flavored, what I end up doing is eating my way through the carton looking for fudge and before you know it I have finished the entire thing in 15 minutes.

I use the terracotta mortar with wooden pestle for preparing salads and the granite one for powdering spices, pounding fresh chilies and fresh roots into pastes and other typical mortar-and-pestle uses.

Anyway my weirdest cooking contraption is a "meat hook" that I bought from a vendor at a swap meet. Its pretty much a metal hook shaped thing with a wooden handle used to pick up meats from a grill and flip them over. It works better than tongs or a spatula and the best thing is the guy hand burned the words "meat hood" into the wooden handle with a cheap wood burning pen.

I bought these while in Taiwan, and they have tons of other nifty smart kitchen stuff there, but I'm quite confident this was a Japanese innovation. It isn't that amazing but it probably saves a kid or a few sensitive Susie's out there from burning their little fingers while retrieving something hot from the m.wave/countertop to dining table.

Maybe this is a cultural thing... but Asians don't really seem to invest in "simple solutions" for fruit peeling/coring. All I can remember growing up is my grandma/parent expertly peeling apple skins off with a tiny knife.
