You can get better cheese steaks outside of philly
The people in philly have dumbed and cheapened it down too much

Started using cheese wiz instead of Provolone, much lower quality meat than when you buy it outside of philly. Its still possible to find good ones there, but its a lot more effort than in most other northern cities

That's one sad looking cheesesteak.

This is a cheesesteak.

>yellow cheese on a cheesesteak

You shouldn't be using american or cheddar cheese, provolone is the only correct choice

I went to Philly awhile back expecting to be wholly blown away by their cheesesteaks. I ate cheesesteaks all over Philly for several days, twice a day. Some were better than others but for the most part they averaged between poor and mediocre. The best cheesesteaks I've had ever were from a place in the far-flung Philly suburbs and in Houston. The place in Pennsylvania was in an antique store that happened to have a deli and kitchen, they sold fucking GOOD cheesesteaks. It was so long ago I'm not even sure where it was, it was well outside of Philly and I think somewhere around West Chester.

Nearly every single cheesesteak I've ever had outside of Philly has been much more expensive and tasted terrible. Cheesesteaks in NYC and NJ are the only exceptions. Streetcart cheese steaks aren't the best but atleast in Philly they're cheap. Places like Chinks and Jims are worlds better than any other cheesesteak I've ever had. Pats and Genos are tourist traps so I hope you werent talking about their shit cheesesteaks

Cheese Wiz always sucks. I tried to like it since so many people around me seemed to but it sucked on the cheap cheesesteaks and it sucked on the expensive cheesesteaks. Provolone is always better

yeah, well philadelphia is not a terribly big city like new york, nor is the local produce particularly unique.
>>4004669
...none that i can think of, you could make a cheesesteak inspired cream soup with chopped steak/onions/peppers/mushrooms etc...

philadelphias got lots of italians too, so a lot of italian foods could be linked to philadelphia, not sure if theres anything unique tho

I haven't had that experience at all, I manage to find delicious reasonably priced cheese steaks all across the northeast and midwest

I find you are rolling the dice much more when buying from an unfamiliar place in philly than you are in other northern cities

Maybe Im unlucky but when I get one outside of the Philly area I'm always paying the top tier cheesesteak price and if Im lucky I get a mediocre sandwich. NYC is the exception to the rule but NYC is like the only city in the world where you can get regional dishes that are just as good as the region they came from.
