Hey /ck/ perhaps you'd like to take a moment to help me.

I joined a cookie swap where I bake a dozen cookies and trade them with my co-workers so in the end you have an assortment for a christmas dessert or w/e.

Basically I'd like some cookie suggestions that would be

>A bit different than the norm

>Still enjoyable for most people

I'm not a great baker, but I've never failed to follow a recipe correctly as long as the instructions are precise.

So any ideas? Cheers.

Get a sweet pumpkin...the small kind. Or a New England Long Pie variety if you know some shit. Roast that fucker. Scoop that flesh out. Make roast pumpkin cookies with cocoa nibs or chocolate chunks. Get your dick wet at every cookie swap.

Sounds interesting, though I've never been much of a pumpkin man myself it is still quite popular in my area.

I'm recipe reliant, can I replace canned pumpkin for a sweet pumpkin like you suggested?

Anyway still open to suggestions, perhaps something a bit broader

Taken from some suburban houesfrau's food blog but they are my favorite cookies I've ever made. Cinnamon chocolate chip cookies that come out soft and chewy and they that way for a while. I usually weigh out my first two or three to about 35g then eyeball the rest which gets me about 24 out of my batch.

I also love shortbread with jam centers. But I don't have a recipe card at the ready for those.

Ooh that's closer to what I was thinking. Thanks man.

Especially the shortbread ones that sounds like a fantastic idea if you can find a recipe you've made before.

I made a cookie last year that went over really well.

Basically you take a chocolate chip cookie recipe
> omit the chocolate
> add a packet of dry vanilla pudding
> add some finely chopped sweet apples like gala
> add some whole cranberry sauce
> add cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves
> add more flour as needed

And then you take sugar and lime juice, melt them together in a pot until the crystals are gone, and drizzle the lime syrup over the top of the cookies.

I actually used a jar of apple cranberry chutney instead of the spices/whole cranberries, but it was a Big Lots item so there's no finding it again.

I think I'm going to go with the shortbreads after looking at some recipes.

Thanks for the help /ck/ and I'll still be keeping an eye on the thread. It can become a cookie general if you'd guys like.

Oh I'd also like to point out that you guys are lovely people, really. I make a thread with a similar attitude asking about something on /a/ and

>get the run-around instead of direct answers
>general seathing hate
>get mocked

a couple other boards are also like that, so you guys should give yourselves a pat on the back.

Anyone know how much butter flavoring affects shortbread dough? I've almost perfected the homemade Chessmen, but it needs more butter flavor.

I honestly have never used it before, so I'm a little cautious.

The first two might be a bit controversial for the workplace. A few people could have allergies and they have to ruin the fun for everyone.
