Hey, /ck/.

I can't find any really good ginger beer (or even good ginger ale) around here.

Ginger beer is my favorite shit ever, so I was wondering if you all could tell me the name of a decent brand I can order from Amazon?

Also, if I wanted to make my own, where would I start? Does that go on here or /diy/?

amazon only has American gingerbeer. When I was in Aussie I encountered some very fine species of gingerbeer. Forgot it's name though :(

I'm American. Only time I've ever had truly great ginger beer was in this small grocery store in NYC. Cost like 3 bucks a bottle. Came in glass 16-oz. bottles. Was amazing.

Here you go, OP.

I never see a homebrew ginger beer recipe when the homebrew threads come up.

Their "extra" ginger beer tastes like a fruit drink, fuck that.

OP, Goya (glass bottle, not canned) is great and has a very strong ginger kick. Not sure if Amazon has it, but it's great stuff.

I live in NC, my family occasionally takes vacations in the mountains - specifically Maggie Valley, which is close to where we live. I had the best fucking homebrewed ginger ale there, so try to scout around to places that sell old-time stuff like that.

That's because ginger beer isn't alcoholic these days.

I make ginger beer using AB's recipe. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/ginger-ale-recipe/index.html It's quite sweet so I prefer to tone the sugar down.

this shit made me choke when i first tried it. pretty good.

How much do you recommend I cut the sugar down?

>> No.3982660

>>3982606
I would recommend 4 ounces but I just checked the reviews to see if anybody else had any comments on the sweetness and it seems like a lot of others actually increased the sugar content.

In that case I guess I'll try it as written and adjust to my own preference.

Thanks, anon.

Apparently you need ginger beer plant to make the good stuff. Dunno where to get it though.

The best I've ever had is Rachel's ginger beer, but I think it can only be obtained in Seattle.

>> No.3982945

>>3982938

Rachel's is currently only available in Seattle, but they're getting read to expand to a bigger production facility.

I know this because Rachel is my upstairs neighbor

Hi anon! You're lucky. I wish Rachel was my neighbor. Does she bring y'all some bottles? Hey come down to Black Coffee sometime next month it's on Pine at Summit, the coffee is really cheap (if you don't drink lattes) really high quality

I've found it from time to time on the east coast. I love it. But then agian I love most ginger beers regardless of taste or quality.
