>> No.3964798

>>3962754
hey OP, here's the deal.

you have companies like dupont and monsanto who genetically modify seeds (soy, corn, etc) so that the seeds become resistant to pesticides (therefore the pesticides can be applied and only effect the pests). then the companies patent the seeds 'cos they are genetically new and unique organisms. then the companies sell the pesticides to the farms.

they have monopolized the the seed and pesticide industries. farmers buy GM seeds 'cos theyre so much easier to raise. the monsanto plants don't die off from the monsanto pesticide. but humans aren't gentically averse to pesticides. so, we consume these foods and as, a matter of biomagnifiation, our genes (for generations) are at greater risk for cancer—you know, so these billionaires can make money... perfectly fair.

these companies are fighting the GMO label bill in California 'cos the want to continue to profit off of thier monopoly and t=cheap method of food production. most people belive that, if we see that certain foods are GMO and and certain foods are not GMO, then ppl will be inclined to by nonGMO and organic, which would reduce the profit margin for these gigantic companies.
