How do I reheat a medium rare steak without overly cooking the interior again?
Is it unavoidable?

In a frying pan.

It's as simple as that.

Why do you have leftover steak?

I would pop it in a microwave for 15 seconds.

Ok then.

Seconds in a microwave can do it, or minutes in an oven. You just have to keep an eye on it.

OP, some foods are good as leftovers. Some foods even get better when chilled for awhile (chili, gumbo, some soups). Steak is not one of those foods. Leftover steak is not good. Please, only cook what will be eaten and do not have leftover steak. Ever.

grind/dice steak, make hachis parmentier.

>> No.3962293

I would "defrost" it in the microwave for maybe 10 seconds or by letting it come to room temp, then throw it in a hot pan to rejuvenate the crust on the outside. Or just cut it up and put it in a sandwich

Slice it up and make a sandwich if you want to use it.
Otherwise, microwave it for 30 seconds then flash fry it I guess?

I never eat a whole steak and always have half a steak leftover. They say a serving of meat is about the size of a deck of playing cards and although I don't plan it that way that's about how much I usually eat. I never reheat it, always just let it come to room temp and eat it like that or make a sandwich or whatever.
