Korean food is healthy, cheap (in Korea at least), unpretentious and delicious. It might not be as seemingly exotic/exciting as SEA cuisine, but it's stuff I'd love to eat everyday (and to the naysayers there is enough variety). Unfortunately it's not as cheap here in England. Galbitang, ddeokguk, sundubu jjigae, hwae, street food... all great. Incidentally I don't like kimchi so much, though I could get used to it

There's been a huge population jump of Koreans in my area. At one of my part time jobs I work for Koreans. Their food is excellent. 3 restaurants opened in the area. Biminbap was mentioned, and is one of my favorites. And it is healthy, by the way. Bugolgi is wonderful.

I especially enjoy eating at them with about 2-3 other people in the winter. I get one one of their big stews and share it. I like how it continues to bubble and cook at the heating element on the table.

I like korean food, but tbh it's pretty limited.
Pretty much there's no such thing as cooked vegetables outside of blanching it, most of it is eaten raw, or fermented. Outside of KBBQ most of their food shares the same spicy note they use across all their cuisine.
That's not to say it isn't tasty, but it's pretty weak in comparison to other asian cuisine.

If you marinate a steak in soy sauce, sugar, and green onions it'll taste the same. There is not much in difference in Korean foods. The only thing they got going for them are fermented things like banchan, bean curds, and red peppers in flakes, powders, and paste forms.
Bibimbap? It's fried rice or a rice plate if you don't want to mix the stuff up. Their stews are just the same copies of other SEA countries with the pepper paste or bean curd thrown into them.
So again, it's really just down to their fermented foods and red peppers.
