Broke student here. I've been stuck eating ramen for the past few weeks. I need some cheap ways of mixing it up a little. I've already been adding frozen peas and carrots, but I need some new ideas.

The same.
Personally I think green onion/leeks, mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrots, and eggs/other protein go rather well.
Some people like putting cheese in it as a new fad but personally I think it's gross.

it's ramen, it's basically the perfect vessel for leftovers or anything you have lying around your fridge. any meats. any vegetables. any liquids. anything. pick up anything in your fridge and ask yourself, "is this a potential soup ingredient?" if the answer is yes put it in your ramen.

Slice a few mushrooms into 1cm-ish slices then spread them out on a tray/foil and stick them in the oven on the highest setting for five minutes. They go pretty well with all the insta noodles I've tried so far.

here's something a little different:

cook noodles
take off burner
drain water
put noodles back in warm pot
in a separate mixing bowl or cup add some mayo (or cream cheese), spicy mustard (like stone ground or coleman's), and the seasoning packet--Mix
Add to your noodles (still in the warm pot)
stir

enjoy.

The following stuff has been tested by me and it seems to work rather well.
>Animal fat, butter, lard or whatever
>Sesame oil or seeds
>Chili based produce like siracha or sambal
>Umami laden sauces like oyster sauce
>Dehydrated/fried produce like onions, shrimp or herbs
>Chopped onions, green onions or other vegetables with a tangy flavour.
>Sweet stuff like corn, bean sprouts or alfalfa.
>Meat or fish, depending on the noodle flavour and other ingredients.

One thing that tasted surpringsly good in noodles was diced spam that was briefly seared on a pan.

NO MORE FUCKIN RAMEN THREADS ASS BUTTS

>> No.3937733

Well hey, was gonna make a thread for this question but this is sorta already there...

Three-four years ago I lived in San Antonio, TX, and could get these things in the local H.E.B. food chain stores. Absolute best ramen I've ever had plain, and could make it better with way less effort.

Catch is now I'm in Louisiana, and can't find the stuff anywhere. ONline, only resource I've found is this place called "Round Eye Supply" selling them for $6.99 for a 24 case. Given for 24 regular Beef at Walmart I'd only spend about $4.50, that is a little extreme, but might be worth it.

Is there a better place to buy them online though? And for that matter, is buying online foods safe? This website in particular, yes or no?
----
And to avoid duplicate questions, I'm curious about everything above for another item I can't find anymore - Four Cheese Cheese Nips. Only source I find is some on Amazon selling in bulk packs. Seemed fishy. Any opinions?

While I'm sitting here enjoying my panko crusted shrimp with a chili-garlic glaze and coleslaw, you idiots are babbling on about how to improve your disgusting noodle bricks and sodium packets. You have no idea how much this amuses me. Instead of wasting your time discussing packaged ramen several times a day (in multiple threads), why don't you learn how to cook instead? The board could use the OC.

>> No.3937898

>>3937807
Or, how about you post some OC on this supposed panko-encrusted shrimp instead of bitching in someone's thread about /ck/ not having enough OC?

On top of that, if you really don't want to see these threads then there's a hide button.

I was just pointing out how much better you could be eating and that learning to cook would be a much better use of your time. It's pretty sad that you actually waste precious seconds of your life discussing packaged ramen on a food & cooking board, considering it barely qualifies as food. And I'm pointing out that the constant ramen spam has gotten ridiculous, can't you at least pretend to have a little taste?
