Just curious on /ck/'s taste. What do you guys think of Bombay Sapphire?

>> No.3891185

I used to think it was good gin back when I was in college.

These days I only ever touch it if I'm on a long flight or in a shitty dive bar and feel like some gin.

I'm in college and think it's pretty good lol

>> No.3891189

It's very light, most of it's floral notes are subtle. Worth buying if you have the money. There are other gins that are much better for the price.

Any suggestions besides Bombay Sapphire? I want to expand my horizons. Drink recipes would be cool too :D

>> No.3891197

tastes like pine. prefer tanqueray.

>> No.3891198

Plain compared to other in that price range.

>> No.3891200

As far a normal boring gin, it's good. Many gins are better, many gins are worse.

What do you drink?

Tanq for gin n tonics. Bombay saph for london gin martinis. Plymouth for plymouth gin martinis.

I think Hendricks is overrated shit, but everyone disagrees.

Junipero, Plymouth, Hendricks, Magellan, Whitley Neill, Aviation, Old Raj, Dry Fly, Hayman's Old Tom, Citadelle, Fifty Pounds, various kinds of genever.

Most people get hooked via Hendricks since it's heavily marketed and easy to find.

Sometimes I drink straight up, sometimes G&Ts. I love Bombay Sapphire Collins too.

Bluecoat or Citadelle. Both are fantastic, and citadelle is in the $20-25 range.

My range is 100$ and below, fyi. Anything there worth the price greater than 20$?

It's a well made gin but I prefer Tanquery or even Beefeaters or Gordans for a very (very) dry martini (chilled, up, with olives).

I like the juniper taste of the latter gins compared to the Sapphire botanicals.

Just saying

Honestly, you're going to have a hard time finding any gin over $50. My wife likes beefeater, but it's not exactly a traditional tasting gin. It's by far the most common in bars, though. Give it a try as well as the others suggested in the thread.

Old Raj is over $50 (if you can find it for less, I'd like to know where).

its over priced
you can get cheaper, better gins that are citrussy and light on juniper. pic related.
witht the money you save you can put it towards a really decent tonic water... like fever tree
