Was it worth your money?

Unless you're making a big-ass feast and need that extra burner open (or are just really lazy and have money to throw around), I really don't see the point to a rice cooker.

$120 and I never have to hover near the stove again for the rest of my life (or at least the next 10-15 years).

At 10 minutes saved per day x365, I gain back 61 hours of stove hovering per year.

Unless you're beans & rice poor, it's money well spent.

That's not even counting the time not cooking irish oatmeal every morning, which, if you've ever done that, takes considerably more than 10 minutes of hovering.

Hey, if you like it more power to ya. That being said, I've never had to hover near my stove and have to check it a maximum of two times (two only if it isn't done the first time). Glass lids are pretty great for that.

>> No.3875823

I have a rice cooker, but it's a plain model, not the fancy fuzzy-logic type as shown in OP. I love it, mainly because it frees up valuable space on the range for other cooking. I can "set and forget" the rice while concentrating on other cooking and not have to worry about the rice pot taking up a burner.

If you have to be back at the stove when the time window is over, that's hovering.

For example, right now I have oatmeal on porridge mode. I'm about to go out to the store and I can come back 10 minutes after it's done. If I tried that with a pot on the stove, I'd have to either rush back, or come back to a room full of smoke.

I understand $100 is a fortune to some people, in Africa I guess. How can you afford the internet?

>I leave my house while I cook.
If you consider using a rice cooker as "cooking" then there's nothing wrong with leaving your house while cooking. It's the equivalent of leaving bread to ferment while leaving your home.

>I like cold rice.
Yeah the positive of a rice cooker is that it actually keeps it hot after it's done.

why not just add 2:1 water:rice, cover and boil for however long it takes that rice to cook?
