I used "real" forums (the kind you log into to post) for many years before discovering 4chan. I currently only use /ck/ on 4chan and it's a lot faster than anywhere I used to post on.

It's fast as shit compared to a real food forum, but then again 80% of the threads get here would be grounds for a ban on a real forum. If you just count quality posts, it's about the same speed as a real website.

It is slow, but that isn't a bad thing. It gives me the opportunity to take my time and check out several threads at my leisure. There are lots of recipes to look at, so it takes a while to save some of them. I enjoy the speed of /ck/, I especially like the real time cooking threads because they are usually a lot of fun.

/ck/ is the perfect speed for me. i like that i can read and respond to every post that i want to do so with. i also like that i can make a post, discuss for awhile, go to sleep, go to work, and my post is still here!!! with alot more responses!!! i guess it can feel a bit slow if you are sitting here hitting refresh every 5 seconds, but that is when i'll browse other boards or do something else, i'll generally only look at /ck/ every 5-10 minutes. also, for the most part the people here seem friendlier and more mature than the rest of 4chan. i don't like feeling like i am surrounded by children.

i don't understand how people can enjoy a board like /b/. content aside, it flies by so fast that it makes me dizzy. even some individual threads go so fast that i don't have time to read and respond like i'd like to. its just too much.

i've seen my share of trolling, no board on 4chan will be troll free. but compared to other boards there is relatively little douchebaggery on /ck/. i'd guess about 75% of posts and threads are decent quality. in contrast, i'd say /b/ was at about a 5%. if they took all of the inane trolling copypasta bullshit out of other boards they would be just as slow as /ck/.

i'm all about quality, not quantity.
