I have 5 pounds of pork butt to work with to feed the family tomorrow. What can I make with this?

Also my family hates everything that I love so nothing Mexican. Also no stew.

cook it in the crockpot with korean bbq sauce. NOT mexican, what is wrong with your family?
1 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. sesame seed oil
1/4 c. water
8 cloves minced garlic
1 bunch chopped green onions
1/4 bunch ginger root, chopped fine
Black pepper
1 c. sugar
Use 1/2 to 1/4 cup of the bbq sauce, reserve the rest for later. You just need a little because the roast will release a lot of liquid.

Pulled prok sandwiches.

This recipe seems dubious. I'm kind of a newbie at cooking but that much sugar just seems odd

Hmm... I wonder if it's anything like pork neck? I don't think I've ever had butt, but the consistency and marbling seems similar.

I personally tend to cut them into rather thick steaks, marinate them well, and pan-fry or grill them at high heat. Something I would like to try would be searing and then baking with apples on top of root vegetables tossed with honey, tarragon, salt, pepper and a bit of water. All that fat and collagen would find a nice home there.

It's to counteract the salt, use 1/2 cup of honey instead.

Asian BBQ sauces tend to be syrupy sweet, it's good when it's loaded with ginger. Though I'd put some chili pepper in there too.

Koreans use a lot of sugar in some of their sauces and marinades, it's legit.
