How many of you have tried frothing milk with a french press (or similar device) for your coffee? How similar is it to steamed milk? Is it better than those little mini electric whisk things?

the electric whisk thing is slightly better, but steamed milk is different.

not like shitty home espresso machine vs pro espresso machine difference, but still noticeable.

the electric whisk things are good for hyper aerating wine without contaminating it with weird flavors since they're very easy to clean. so don't feel like it has no other uses, if you were considering one.

Yup ive used my french press to foam my milk and i also have a mini electric whisk. The french press isnt too bad but by the time im done foaming my milk, my milk is unpleasantly lukewarm. The elec whisk is better but theres nothing like proper steamed milk!

yeah, i've tried it but i've never had steamed milk so i can't compare. I assume you microwave the milk first

OP here not a single place in town had one of those electric whisks, and all the French press' were fucking expensive.
