mostly homestyle. i know it's not fancy, but i liken it to the same variety youd see at mimi's cafe or marie callendars, but not bland and boring.

Australians think they deserve a lot of money for easy jobs, so pretty much everyone here earns a ridiculous amount.
>>3785270
Without tips. Australians don't really tip, but I generally try to treat customers as friends rather than just customers, so I make about an extra $15 a week in tips.

either that or the years of meth and coke and drinking while I cooked and worked in bars and resturants, you pick one. No seriously, what are your life plans on $15/hour? have you worked this out? Because there aren't any.

Yeah it's stupidly high. Minimum wage for a 21 year old is like $22 an hour for a casual position. I mean I love living in Australia (having lived in Africa for 10 years beforehand), I'm glad I live here. But the Australian attitude towards everything just makes me so angry.

Oh. Why didn't you say you were Australian? That changes everything. You've got healthcare and free schools and a guaranteed retirement and all kinds of crazy shit over there. I was thinking you were an American where $15/hr is dogshit. My bad

>> No.3785287

>>3785277
Not OP, but 15 bucks an hour plus benefits is pretty good where I come from. It all depends where you live though. Different places have a higher cost of living than others. If you lived in NYC you would starve and be homeless on that pay.

Papa johns pays its drivers on average $7-8/hr. Why would any business pay $27/hr. for a basic labour job? Do doctors make $1,000,000 a year in Australia?

>> No.3785316

>>3785313

i didnt cook for a hobby. i started in professional kitchens when i turned 18. went full force into advancing up the ranks in the kitchen. 8 years later i still love working. i feel that doign it professionally give me some creativity, keeps my worth ethic high, and pays decently. soem days it does suck but overall i love what i do.

i really dont cook outside of work though.

Where abouts are you in Australia?

I'm on the Gold Coast and good food and restaurants are few and far between.
People that have lived on the Gold Coast their whole lives don't really know what they are missing, some of my friends think a chicken parma from a pub is a gourmet meal.

You worked 6.5 years at the same job and are NOW just starting to make $15/hr? Holy fuck man. Not being a dick, but how did you live on $12.50/hr? Did you live at home or with roomates?

I guess that is why you gotta get an education. I'm Canadian and have a MSc. so far, and I only make $25/hr as a contract researcher. I thought I should be paid more but it was just to spend a year working and learning some new methodologies before starting my PhD. next year.

No? Okay. Again, no pizza delivery boy makes $27 an hour.

Just post some proof kiddo. Should be simple. If there's a pizza place that is paying drivers nearly $30 an hour it would surely be publicized in australia.

If you're over 21 minimum wage is like $21 per hour,
pizza delivery guys probably get a bit extra to cover fuel and wear and tear on their car.
It's not that hard to believe.

>> No.3785466

>>3785460

minimum wage is between 9 and 11 bucks for those under 21. 15 bucks for over 21 there. in that case, if he is over 21, he will be making 15 an hour. no pizza place will pay a delivery driver extra.
