Make me feel better about my fuck up. I just left twenty-four duck legs in the oven (not on) over night after preparing them for confit (4 hours in salt, 4 hours in a low temp oven) yesterday. I just woke from a nap and remembered and called my chef. Waiting for a callback to see if anyone took them out and if they are okay.

Tell me about your kitchen fuck ups so I don't feel like a complete retard...

Its only 24 legs, its not big deal. If noone took them out, then everyone in your kitchen is quite the fucking idiot. Why wouldn't they be using the oven during the service last night?

I once left a stew in the oven when I went to pick my sister up from work. Forgot about rush hour.

I'm lucky my parents still have a house.

Not this one. I factored in 20 mins there, 20 mins back. When I got back two hours later, the stew was charcoal and the house was full of smoke.

Everytime I try to make cookies, I somehow fuck up on placement so it always ends up as a giant cookie. The last time I tried removing the cookie from the tray somehow tore the cookie to shreds, forming a ~6" mountain of cookie. It was still delicious, but I'm still annoyed that I can't figure out cookies.
kept basting a turkey repeatedly once for the hour or so that it cooked only to realize as I took it out for the last time that I didn't tent it. I knew I was supposed to, it just never occurred to me that the foil was missing until the timer started going off
When I tried to fry pineapple slices, I set it all up, put the slice on the pan, then forgot about it and came back 20 minutes later to find it completely burnt. So I put on another slice, forgot about it, and the process repeated. Did this a total of 4 times before giving up

Well, I had a reason to read it the first time. I assumed you had a point to make. And reading it the second time was no surprise because I wanted to see if you'd actually do it / change something.
curiosity!

My coworker and I did closing shift and accidentally left a pan of chicken in an oven. Turned the oven off, but when the chef turned it on the next morning, he didn't know the chicken was there and it ended up burning/smoking up the kitchen. I feel your feel, OP.
