I know you guys are drinking. I don't know why no one is posting about it.

I picked this up on the way home. Like everything else from Heitz, it is delicious.

I work in St. Helena and I drive by that place all the time. I'm quite fond of Rombauer, which is in the same area. Not drinking it tonight, though.

I'm enjoying a Gordon Biersch Czech Style Pilsner. Quite good.

I'm finishing up a bottle of Ardbeg 10 and am about to move on to some Laphroaig QC. Might switch to Johnny Walker Black on the rocks in a few hours if I still feel like drinking.

What's the general opinion of Glenlivet? New to Scotch, need some help. At this point I can drink Jamesons on the rocks and love it, but don't know a lot of others, but I'm also in college looking for under fifty

Jameson's is a blend, okay but nothing special. I don't know why it's so popular in America, blends are fine to get drunk off of but you shouldn't be paying more than you would for a bottle of low-end single malt whisky. The Glenlivet is a fairly standard mass-produced single malt, if you're new to whisky I'd buy that or a bottle of Jura 10yo for starters, then maybe a smokier one like Caol Ila and a sweeter one like Glendronach after that to see what you like. Personally I don't like the super smoky ones like Talisker and Laphroaig but that's just me.

Though the best way to sample whisky is to go to a bar that has a load of them in stock and try a few. It's better than shelling out a fuckload of money on something you might not even like. It's fairly standard to have at least a few single malts behind the bar in the UK, though I'm not sure what it's like where you live. Try an old man pub because you can ask the barman questions and he'll be more likely to know what he's on about.

I would also like to say that Lagavulin 16yo is the absolute god of whisky. I wish I could afford a bottle...

Also try to find a wine specialist/liquor store that sells miniatures/sample packs. You get the variety of going to a bar for (usually) half or even a third the cost.

Scotfag here. Just out of curiosity, how much does a bottle of single malt cost in the USA?

>> No.3746440

Varies greatly by state. In southern California a bottle of Glenlivet 12 costs $24, Ardbeg 10 costs $40, Highland Park 12 costs $40, and Laphroaig 10 costs $36. Pretty great prices as far as I can tell.

To get that in pounds multiply by 0.64

Bump. I'm still drinking the grignolino. It's still quite good on the second day which is unusual for a light bodied wine.

I've never had it before yesterday but I'll be drinking this stuff often in the future.

Glenlivet is good. Clean, kinda subtle for a scotch. Bit pricy for a student.

>>3746384
You know your scotch, sir.

>>3746437
I'd have to pay about $40 for a bottle of Glenlivet 12 at the grocery store in town.

Herradura white tequila. Best thing you can get in normal venues.

I'm an alcoholic, and I don't take pride in my drinks anymore...

I've had 3 Point Brewery Nude Beach beers (local), 2 Guiness Black lagers, 3 Linenkuegel Summer Shandys (also local), and two mixed drinks of cheap Burnett pineapple vodka with mango lemonade and a splash of diet 50/50

Contemplating taking a swig of Appleton Jamaican rum in a minute...

lol, that's just what was in the fridge.

I can drink some chilled rumple minz straight, if I only had some...

Like I said, I'm not discriminating (unless it's shit-tier beer, which I can't slam the greatest --barring bush light)
