Chop it it up into large chunks. Use as bait to catch a kind of fish that is actually edible.

Mackeral is probably one of the healthiest fish around... and it tastes fucking amazing. Grilled with a good amount of salt makes for an incredible meal.

When I was in Japan I ate grilled mackeral like crazy... love the stuff.

Head, gut and fin the mackerel. Poach in court bullion with a little milk added. Let cool and clear the skin and bones. Seal mackerel into bags and freeze. Use this just like you would canned tuna. Mixing the fish with minced celery, onions, and pickles, some cayenne, and a little mayo is recommended.

Oh gawd, mackeral is awesome...

bump for amazing recipes

>> No.3739358

don't listen to the mackerel shit talkers, i'd eat mackerel over salmon/tuna/sea bass any day of the week.

just grill the mackerel with oil and salt. once it's done, take off and drizzle extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice. eat with lots of cold beer

if the fish is super fresh, that's all you need. don't ruin it by added tons of shit to it.

Do what them japperneze do and broil them.

Take 1/2 a cup of soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin
1/4 cup sake
1 tblspn of sugar (i prefer brown, but the japs usually use white)
a tsp of grated ginger
and some pepper

cut your fish into filets
combine the shit above
put both things into a bag and marinade them for like 2 hours

broil them on high until that motherfucker breaks apart with a fork, something like 8 minutes in my experience

serve that shit on or next to rice

if you cant be assed to find some mirin, just get 1/4 some white wine, vermouth, rice wine, whatever, and add an extra half a tsp of sugar to the marinade

for some reason the snapper were not bighting very much today and the mackerels were practically jumping into the boat

any way, I ended up brushing it with olive oil, seasoning with salt, pepper and paprika and broiled it for about ten minutes, it was fucking tasty.

complimented with steamed broccoli and lemon-garlic
brown rice
