basic bitch rice cookers are fine, but higher end rice cookers do make a bit better rice, and tend to have more options for different types of rice, and potentially other shit (bread baking, cake making, other grains like oats, etc)

well proper sushi rice will be better in the higher end rice cooker, but how much that matters to you is up to you.

It'll also probably do your long grain a little bit better, but not as much as the sushi rice.

Basically the two main brands is Zojirushi(Japanese) and Cuckoo(Korean).
I feel like Cuckoo offers more myself but I've never really done a comparison between the two brands.
You do get what you pay for(outside of the highest of the high end cookers)
A $300 rice cooker will make really good rice and a $100 will make ok rice.
If you eat rice a lot and it's important to you, I'd say get the most expensive one you can afford.

The secret is to let it steam instead of heating all the way.

>1.5 cups of water
>on highest heat
>bring to boil (I just boil it in a kettle cause I can't be fucked waiting for that part)

>take it off the heat
>wait 6 mins

Here you go. Perfect rice. I found this method foolproof because it cooks off the heat. if you want the seeds separated toast it in a tiny splash of oil (like 1 teaspoon) before pouring in the water. It precooks the starch coating.

This is precisely what I do down to the measurements, but my NInja pots always boil over and the starch filled water burns along the side of the outside of the pot. It's annoying as fuck. Only way to stop it is to lift the lid for a few seconds every couple minutes while it cooks.
