I used to be a wine skeptic. I liked wine okay but I thought the whole culture of "appreciating" wines and finding some wines to be qualitatively better than others was mostly a meme. Then, for New Year's Eve 2000, I decided to spring for a $200-ish bottle of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame champagne. And goddamn if it wasn't absolutely incredible. Best champagne I've ever tasted —maybe even the best wine period I've ever tasted. It was way more than 4 times better than a $50 bottle of champagne. I'll probably never do it again because $200 is $200, but I'm glad I did it. It opened my eyes.

why aren't ducks more widely farmed? every part of them is delicious, FUCK chickens

>> No.20455007

>>20454989
You made me curious so I looked it up, and it all comes down to economics. Ducks are harder to farm than chickens because they need access to open water and stuff while chickens are content just clucking around a little field. Also ducks have more feathers and down (which I did not know before) which makes them more expensive to butcher compared to chickens. Then I guess the other thing is just supply and demand; there's not that much demand for duck, so it's not economical to farm them on large scales.

Male wine drinker here. It’s funny buying a good Bordeaux. I usually get asked who I’m buying it for, Wife? Mother? Sister? Surely it can’t be for yourself. Then when I tell it’s for me, I get a shocked look. They recover and decide to ‘play along’ with me. Then they start telling me lots of things I know I about wine.
It’s at this point, if I can be bothered, I go through their shelves and tell them all the ones I’ve tasted and why I like them or not. Which regions I prefer, big up Marlborough, and why I’m not a fan of Californian and 100% prefer Spanish. Now is when I think they feel bad. Because they always offer me loads of samples. I can usually free taste like 4/5 different ones min on every visit. Having said that met a really nice man last time through the airport who was giving out Schlumberger samples. We had a great chat. He was awesome. Now girls at bars when you order a large white find you immediately intriguing. They watch you take a sip. I think they are waiting to see if you make a face. When you look pleased then they have their in to strike up a conversation.
I don’t know a lot of other male wine drinkers but I wish I did. I can only go on so many tasting sessions with girls.

Sadly, since ~2004's shattering of the tattered remains of the social contract, the Scam economy has gone full force and most all the things you once held as true are grifts for profit.
>Made WITH 100% batural ingredients
This is legal trickery. If it said Made OF 100% natural ingredients it would have to be. As is, you could have 90% lab created toxic waste, and as long as ONE of the ingredients was "natural",(also a legally ambiguous term,) it would fit the definition.
That vinegar was almost definitely vat grown using e-coli, and fuck Warren Buffett anyway...He gutted the company and outsourced much of it to China and other cheaper countries just to pocket even moar money he could never spend in a hundred lifetimes.

We used to get ajvar from a little Albanian grocery, they also sold great sausages, and fresh burek (picrel).
