How long will one of these Walmart rotisserie chickens last in the fridge? I bought it Thursday but probably won’t finish it before Thursday of next week. All the answers I’m getting from google are too short for my liking so I wanted a real answer from here that I like better. Also I shredded one of these up for making quesadillas out of almost 2 weeks ago and I’m still using that chicken that’s been in the fridge the whole time, will it last a couple more weeks?

>> No.20419518

yea it will last. you can keep eating it all the way into may and be fine if you wash it first

Wash it? What do you mean? And will the shredded chicken be ok too?

Yea that should be good for another few weeks at least, the green just means it's becoming fresher

Meat typically only lasts a few days in the fridge before bacteria/mold growth starts to affect it. If I'm not going to eat something in a day or two, I put it in the freezer.

I put the 2 week old shredded chicken in the freezer just now, can I just nuke it in the microwave and then get out however much chicken I need for a quesadilla and then put back whatever’s left in the freezer each time? The heat should kill the germs right?

How did you make it to whatever age you are at now without dying of foodborne illness? Or are you like 80 pounds because you never stop shitting liquid.

That doesn’t answer my question at all. I’m 25 and 285lbs

Has nothing to do with germs. The bacteria eat, shit and die. Some of that slop is not going to be destroyed by heat or cold. You either eat it in 2-3 days or you freeze it immediately to stop the peepeepoopoo. Leaving it out for weeks and then freezing it is retarded, if it's already been unfrozen for that long its not worth the risk.

Can you eat it? Maybe. Will you have runny shits the day after? Probably. Take your choice, white man.

I mean is the worst that will happen is I’ll just have runny shits? I ate a quesadilla today that I cooked 3 or 4 days ago with the old shredded chicken that had been sitting in my fridge and I’ve felt fine so far.

I never have one last past four days because I finish it. I then roast the bones and make stock out of it. It's a good deal if you can get one at Costco or Sams for under $8.

I get them at Walmart for right at 6 dollars

Last as in not give you food poisoning or sick? Probably a week. Ive done 5 days when I bought a lemon pepper one on Thursday and had to leave town at the last minute and came back on Monday. Took 2 days to finish, tasted OK. Cooked chicken doesn't reheat well and it gets the weird smell, so as long as you are using it cold as needed, it should be fine.
The other thing is that these chickens, even by Costco standards, are absolutely filled to the brim with a salt brine. I don't know if it makes them last longer, but it wouldn't surprise me if the diced chicken they have being the glass is whole rotisserie chicken they didn't sell. It's probably designed to last.
The smell when it goes bad is pretty strong so you'll know...it's similar to tofu that gets old, sickly sweet.
