What’s something so sweet you don’t eat it?

Pic sadly related.

For me It's Lemon Lush.
Mom used to make it a couple times every year for the family and most every time there was a need for a potluck dessert.
Loved it as a kid, but the thought of that much sugar with that much whipped, sweetened soybean oil, makes my stomach roll over.

Fondant, and not even because of sweetness but it's lack of real flavor. I even say this as someone that prefers American Buttercreams over Merigue-based ones precisely because they aren't sweet enough.

>> No.20417944

>>20417907
No. It uses a shortbread base that you bake instead of Marias, and it does have cream cheese, but the topping is usually Cool Whip,(fake whipped cream) instead of the sort of mousse/custard cross made from evaporated and condensed milk.
A fusion of the two would be amazing.
I also eat the hell out of Marias. maybe once a month, I act like a complete glutton and spoon cherry pie filling on the chocolate ones.
Never had Mexican icebox cake, but now I'm going to have to make it.

Any cake you find in America.
Ever since I moved here, I haven't been able to find good cake except for ar small, distinctly european bakeries (French, Danish etc.). Also, american (and mexican) cakes are all super sweet but also super dry and like 35% frosting that tastes like nothing but sugar.

Well, I had to look it up. Seems I was wrong, it uses hydrogenated coconut oil and palm kernel oil; both oils that I'm fine with.
Still, too sweet, but I posted mis-info and figured I should at least address it.
Seems strange nobody called me out on it, but goes to show, you really do have to read the labels.
May as well own it.

Pretty much all American chocolate bars. Could devour them as a kid, but even one mini bar is too sickly sweet for me now. Crunch bars were my favorite. I've found replacements that are more palatable, but they're expensive hipster bars that are like twice the cost.
