20383135 No.20383135 [Reply] [Original]

What fictional food would you want to try? Why would you want it? Make a case for why it's worth trying.
I'll start: Gagh
It's edible to most humanoids, but only appreciated by those who get immersed in Klingon culture. That tells me it must be an extreme example of acquired taste, like sea urchin or fermented fish. These are usually the best foods, but they are only accessible to people with an open mind.
For example, the best things on a European plate are usually based on organs (e.g. haggis, liver and onions), blood (e.g. boudin noir, black pudding), or decaying things (e.g. blue cheese, casu martzu). People who can't get past their initial disgust will never experience the rich flavours on offer.
Klingon cuisine is like this, but even more so. Everything they eat is considered disgusting by 99% of people, but loved by a select few who take the time to explore it. That means it's probably the best food in the galaxy.

Crack-O's Potato Chips, voted the UNN's national food product in the early 21st century, are made from slices of common potatoes deep fried in hydrogenated oils. This treat is often supplemented with vitamins to boost its questionable nutritional value.

I appreciate your attitude, but Klingons seem like the filthiest and grossest of the Star Trek races and gagh seems like it has a high probability of just being generically nasty because it's eaten by warrior people who either don't care that it's disgusting or see that as a plus because eating something disgusting makes them seem strong.

Those Ferengi tube worm things on the other hand... Ferengi seem like the kind of wealth obsessed people who appreciate delicacies so I'd be willing to bet those are actually really good.

It's crazy how well this was done and knowing the techniques from the extra features that there are two tables in that shot with different sized props and about 5 feet away from each other, but the framing was done so carefully even now it looks almost seamless.

For me for some reason, the pizza the turtles were eating in that original 1990 TMNT movie always looked so freaking good.
