Not if you live in USA, they removed the combo pizza, the only decent option. Other Costco pizza is mid at best, the only advantage being that "large pizza" means a real large, not a fake Dominos large. If you're in Australia or Japan or Mexico or China or anywhere else that Costco Corporate didn't cuck, then it might be worth a try, but only as a "perk" if you're shopping there anyway. $10 for a large pie that gives you easy greasy meals for the next couple days ain't bad.

Warehouse stores like Costco and Sam’s club are targeted to doctors and highly payed women. The layout of the store, having everything on pallets creates an illusion you are saving money. It's worth getting a membership just for the savings on food in general.

Back in December someone pointed me at a Groupon sale that sold a Costco membership for $60 (normal price) but with a $40 "digital shop card" thrown in. So, net $20 for the membership.

In January they put peanut butter on sale. It was already only 75% of the price in the cheapest local grocery store, but on sale it was 45% off. That alone saved me enough to "pay" for the $20 annual membership fee.

They'll probably do another sale at some point. Check Groupon from time to time.

So what? That just means you should buy those specific items at Kroger's.

I price-compare among three different stores. Costco is usually cheapest (see my peanut butter comment above, 25% cheaper than even Wal-Mart, and fuck the fancy stores), but not always. Not even to mention that Costco has a large selection of much higher quality stuff that gets varied throughout the year -- I was buying roast duck halves from around last October through January (fuck them for discontinuing those), some great peanut-butter-filled-chocolate-bars recently (also discontinued, fuck), and their garlic chicken wings are better and cheaper than the other local options.

Also, Costco's produce is usually pretty good, especially the apples. They've had as many as six different varieties to choose from. When I was buying from the local grocery store I was often getting apples that were rotting internally; I've rarely gotten a bad one at Costco.

Costco membership is worth it to me just for the fuel prices. It's consistently $0.40-0.60/gal cheaper than every other gas station. I drive about 12k miles a year at 20mpg average, so that's over $300 yearly in savings.

I only actually go in the warehouse maybe once every two months, mostly to buy alcohol, toilet paper, and bulk meat

They typically sell them in two-dozen packs minimum. They also have big packs of 60. But even a twodozen pack should cost you less than $8. One of the best things about Costco tho, is how much you save on toiletries.

because you typically get more of it, almost every product there is far cheaper by unit/weight than any other grocery store. That's why it's only optimal for expensive items you want to buy in bulk. The "kirkland" brand stuff isn't really their store brand, its mid/top shelf products re-labeled and re-sold under their brand for a hefty volume discount.

I actually like shopping at Sam's Club versus Walmart even though some things might be a little pricier because I can't stand some of the super trashy customers at Walmart, and I'm talking about this as a customer, not an employee. I order some stuff online from Walmart and have it delivered if I have no choice.
I mean, granted, if you're looked to pull teenaged girls for a one night stand (you typically won't find them at bars and clubs), Walmart is a decent place, but generally speaking, I avoid it like the plague.
