I don't think they got accidently mixed up because after I realized the coke zero was just regular coke, I switched to the diet coke fountain, but it was also sweet. So what likely happened was they ran out of the diet flavors and just replaced them with regular.

Because regular coke tastes sweet like sugar while diet coke has this sort of light, hollow and watery taste. I can actually tell the difference between coke zero and diet coke too, since diet coke uses aspartame and coke zero uses sucralose, which is closer to real sugar though still not close. Also you can get a stomachache from drinking too many regular cokes which won't happen with diet or zero. I would have realized sooner but I was desperate for caffeine so I chugged them. Also your ex sounds based.
