Why is this the case? They decided to fuck the sweet onion sauce and combine it with the Teriyaki so it doesn't go well on anything and they changed the chipotle by adding artificial smoke. Was this just to get me outraged at their sauce and not their spokesperson having sex with children?

Subway is a vision of our bleak future. It's the perfect avatar of our mediocre, phone-it-in society.
Why do people eat Subway? It's not cheap. It's not fast. It's not healthy, and it doesn't taste good. Subway's advertising doesn't even hide this fact. They don't address any of the shortcomings of their business model. It's literally "here are some celebrities, here is a sandwich, you know whatever, just come buy it". They are not even trying to attract customers, because they don't have to. They simply think that buying an ad will make people eat there.
And it works, because it's mediocre food for mediocre people. Try to imagine the average person who eats at Subway. Linda, the middle-aged A/R lady who works at your office, eats Subway. Why does she do this? More likely than not she has a vague perception in her mind that Subway is a quick, healthy lunch, yet she pays $9 for a six-inch sub that has worse macros than a cheeseburger. Is it because Linda is not thoroughly analyzing her decisions and their consequences? It certainly seems that way.
What are the ramifications of this? What happens to our intricate, delicately-balanced civilization when we reach a critical mass of people who simply go through the motions and accept mediocrity in their life, instead of striving to be better? It is when you reach this answer when you know the true insidiousness of Subway and those who allow it to be pushed upon us.
