how would you objectively describe the taste and texture or tofu to someone who has never eaten it or any of the component ingredients and therefore no frame of reference?

It's like cheese but made with plants!

I wouldn't. Tofu has too many variations in texture that describing it would be pointless. And describing any taste to anyone is a similarly futile effort.
Just give them a piece, raw or cooked, and be done with it.

Raw tofu? That's basically paneer without any flavor. But if you bake it in the oven for half an hour or so, it develops a jerkylike texture and it soaks up marinades really well, which is the only way I eat it.
>bottle of sauce
>cubes tofu
>next day, bake on parchment lined baking sheet for 25-30 min
>serve over boxed rice
Das a whole meal right there

Flavorless (or like the water you get in a can of beans but not strong). Texture is like mush or overcooked scrambled eggs.

Raw it's extremely bland and soft, simmered in liquid it's about the same, fried though it's a nice crispy, crunchy texture on the outside and chewy on the inside.

Does everyone here smoke 37 packs per day or something?
