I was 28 years old until I realized that Jasmine rice wasn't basami rice and long grain rice wasn't Jasmine rice. I asked an Asian friend why my rice black flavor, but the Asian restaurants always had fragrant rice, they asked me what rice I was using, I told them I was using regular rice. They told me I need to use Jasmine rice, my mind was blown when they explained to me that that wasn't Indian rice. I went 28 years of my life thinking that the only reason Asian restaurants had good rice was because they had a rice cooker

Genuinely good corn tortillas take a lot of work to make from scratch and taste way better than generic grocery store shit. Ingredients and mexican labor might be cheap but if you like tortillas its worth it.

Meanwhile you can just go buy a bag of jasmine rice from the supermarket and it takes 20 minutes to make a home with a pot, stove, some salt and 2 cups of water.
