20206053 No.20206053 [Reply] [Original]

Hard to blame Guy Fieri for hosting a party and giving away a lot of free food. These restaurants could have used the opportunity to promote themselves, give out samples or whatever. Instead they just threw the food away.

>> No.20206070

They would've been damned if they threw it all out too. But local vendors and the organizers should've known that would happen, clearly they were already cooking shitloads of food and competing. Guy Fieri is based, events owe me food.

Definitely sounds like a larp because that's not how tax deductions work at all...

That's how inventory valuations on a balance sheet work, idea of market value of inventory, which you might need to write down, but that's completely irrelevant to taxes.

>Your business can deduct 100% of the cost of food, beverages, and entertainment that is made available to the general public (for example, free snacks at a car dealership or free food and music provided at a promotional event open to the public). IRS regulations confirm that this exception is still available, and it still covers applicable entertainment expenses.

Also in regards to the value of the food, the big companies like; Pepsi, Tyson, Bud Light etc. Since they produce the items for consumption, they can set the value of that product, which in turn is used for them to inflate their "loss" by giving away the shit for free

In a normal situation, yes, it would be the cost of the product, but since these are manufacturers, they can set their own prices on their own product. Even with a steep direct to consumer discount, the manufacturing markup makes the 0.0000000005 worth of Pepsi into a $1 deduction.

Well, from what I understand of reading into this for several minutes, it seems like some retards decided to compete against big companies handing out mediocre slop by attempting to SELL mediocre slop. Now they're upset that people would rather recurve free mediocrity than pay $20 for it.
I understand those smaller businesses can't afford to just give away food like "the big guys" but they literally knew what they were getting into and refused to bring their A game to justify their prices.
If I had the choice between a fucking free McRib and a $30 tray of actually good ribs, I'd be reaching for my wallet. But apparently, the local joints decided not to bring their best. I think I heard something about one of them being known for their pizzas, but they weren't even selling their zas there. I dunno, I'm not from there, I could be talking outa my ass.
I'm also no businessman, but I imagine if I were given such a golden opportunity to advertise my restaurant, I'd risk the big dip in my pockets to hand out free food too to get all those people interested in my restaurant.
It seems to my the local eateries we're just various shades of retarded. They got their tickets, they knew what they were going into, and they weighed their options poorly, and can only blame others for it so they don't have to accept it's all their fault for being retards.
I imagine since it's FUCKING VEGAS and those local joints are apparently fairly well known around there, they could have afforded to fully compete by giving out free food too and make up their losses the next day.
But again, I dunno, I'm just a retard too.

You didn’t build your business. The people and government did.
>I hear all this, you know, 'Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever.' No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody. You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police-forces and fire-forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory — and hire someone to protect against this — because of the work the rest of us did. Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless — keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.
