I think I get what you mean but the skin helps the chicken stay greasy and the skin can get a little crispy so it's funny to me thay's weird but fried chicken with a crispy layer of flour and soaked in oil is not gross. It makes sense for breasts but the dark meat benefits from the skin. The people I know thay don't like the skin don't prefer dark meat either.
