Orange Chicken day made going to school worth it.

Most girls at my highschool either starved themselves or thought the food was absolutely disgusting and wouldn't eat more than a bite of their food.

You bet your ass i would grab 4 or 5 plates of their food to create a mountain of delicious orange chicken and rice. Oh it was GLORIOUS!

Swear to god it tasted better than panda express to my undeveloped tastebuds

When I was in elementary school they would serve burritos that I'm pretty sure came frozen and were heated on large trays in the oven. They always left them in there too long, but it wasn't very hot, either. So the tortilla would be browned and somewhat dried out, almost like a chimichanga but not fried. I want those so bad, it's 30 years later and I can still taste them. I get close making them at home, I think I need to just prepare the burritos then freeze them.

I asked my grandma if she knew how to make potato chip cookies. she said no but to ask them if they had a recipe and she would break it down to a normal sized batch

they used to do a perfectly round ice cream scoop of instant mash, then pour over brown hamburger gravy, or yellow turkey gravy and sere it with those awesome cafeteria rolls

the fiestado, and the sausage pizza. usually put corn in it and folded it into a taco of sorts.

also the fake ass mcrib thing.

oh and sometimes they'd do pigs in blankets, using the same dough they used for those rolls they'd bake up.

everything else was basically dogshit and inedible, though. i used to lie and say i didn't have lunch money so they'd give me a PBJ, until they called CPS on my mom.

My junior high cafeteria served BBQ rib sandwiches that was better than McRib.
On a sidenote, McRib just came back to Canada and it was kind of disappointing for me.

Chicken nugget day, it was routine for the majority of kids to order triple or quadruple chicken (a rare case of quintuples ordered by yours truly) nuggets until school admin put a cap of triples on chick nuggys. Not only were they hot and tasty but they were also currency, trade 5 nuggets for your homework type currency.

My high school had some of the most amazing chicken fingers and fries I've ever had. Even the teachers knew it, so if our class was right before lunch, they would let us out a few minutes early so we can go line up and make sure we got some.
Things were extra breaded and each the size of a chicken breast. Fries had some old bay seasoning on them too (MD fag).
I don't really remember most of my last couple weeks of HS, but I do remember the last chicken fingers and fries day and being actually bummed it was the last time I was gonna eat them.

For me, it was sloppy joe day. I still remember the exact middle school menu:

>Sloppy joe
>Side of pallid mushy green beans from a giant institution-sized can
>Side of pallid mushy corn kernels from a giant institution-sized can
>Box of milk
>Side of mixed fruits in syrup from a giant institution-sized can

It was great. You could mix the beans and corn together with the sloppy joe mix rather than eating them individually.

Vegetable soup and grilled cheese was what I went with most often, but steak nuggies were my favorite.
Rectangular pizza was a last resort.
I seldom ate lunch though because 2.25 per day was way beyond what my parents could afford and I lived in a shitty southern state that didn’t believe in things like charity, empathy, or insuring the next generation isn’t rendered retarded by malnutrition.

ive wanted this slop so bad since highschool but i cant justify buying trash food for it
>shitty breaded chicken patty sandwich that the school always overcooks, which is a good thing
>tater tots also overcooked so super crispy
>put tater tots on the sandwich with 2 packs of ketchup
>shitty warm chocolate chip cookie on the side and milk
my middle school also had a legit sandwich bar so i ate good there, highschool options were awful pizza, inedible burgers, soggy premade sandwiches with 1 slice of meat on them and salads, so tater tot chicken sandwich was it

My highschool had the best breakfast sandwiches. Piping hot burn your mouth breakfast sandwiches. English muffin, sharp cheddar cheese, egg, sausage, wrapped in tin foil. So hot like I said it'd scald my mouth sometimes. I'd go to school early and get breakfast and sit in the cafeteria doing homework until my first class. Those sandwiches were so fucking good

The square school pizzas were always so comfy, the taco pizzas that were hexagons were good. One of my favorites was this frozen pretzel dog they always served with mustard, those were the days. If any lurking zoomers are here, treasure every day you’ve got. One day you’ll do something you love for the last time and you won’t even know it
