Why don't more people use alcohol to sterilize their food?

We all know alcohol sterilizes shit, it's why we use hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol. So why don't more people use it to keep themselves from getting sick?

>Be me
>News always talking about listeria outbreaks from salad bags
>Don't make a lot of money so I don't throw things out until I'm certain they're expired
>Whenever I buy a bag of lettuce, I lightly rinse it with vodka and water
>If I ever eat anything I'm worried might be expired or undercooked, I have a single shot with my meal, kills the bacteria
>If I ate something and start to feel sick, just sterilize my stomach with a swig
>Haven't had food poisoning in years
>Haven't puked in years
>Haven't gotten drunk in years
>I basically only do this when I feel sick or want to be sure, like once a month at most, so I'm not an alcoholic

You can't get sick if the bacteria can't survive in your stomach.
Obviously if you drink a shitload you're gonna poison yourself but one shot to sterilize your stomach once in a long while is fine.

Pepto-bismol, antacids, all the typical stomach meds rarely do shit and they're overpriced as fuck. Unless you're an alcoholic, pregnant, or can't drink for some other reason, you can get cheap booze for as low as like $10, maybe less depending on the state.
A shot is what, 50ml? That's 15 uses in a 750ml bottle. And if you're feeling sick on the go you can just buy those cheap $1 airplane bottles anywhere, liquor stores are usually open later than pharmacies and you don't have to buy a $8 bottle of pills that don't do shit anyway.

You can sanitize your fruit and vegetables by soaking them in 1:4 ratio of vinegar to water.

It's kind of crazy how many little dead bugs come floating out.

Also I wouldn't go this far since wine is for snobs but wasn't there that study that people who drank a glass of red wine once every few days were significantly healthier and lived longer lives?

Helpful, but would it sterilize against bacteria too?

Yes. Vinegar kills most bad bacteria too.

Fun fact.
Cheese Makers actually spray vinegar on the outside of their big wheels of cheese to kill off the bad bacteria and only allow the good ones to live.

Then that means a balsamic vinaigrette dressing on a salad basically guarantee no food poisoning

Guess that makes the vodka rinse redundant

I'm pretty sure the study was funded by French wine industry

>Why don't more people use alcohol to sterilize their food?
Because we fucking cook it?

OP I demand you recognize this

Bacteria eat food and then excrete toxic waste products. Alcohol won't get rid of that. It might help prevent the worst cases of food poisoning which seem to come from active bacterial infections, but you can still have food poisoning even when all the bacteria is dead.

This. If you kill them they don't have enough time to run away so you're still stuck eating dead bacteria.

>I lightly rinse it with vodka and water
its useless, too little alcohol and not in contact for long enough to make any difference

I demand that you're a whore and shut up and also I sterilize my stomach a LOT.
