Are flavor whiskeys and bourbons okay, or gay?

Extremely gay.

But high proof whiskey melts the gay away.

>> No.20056700

Bourbon already has a very vanilla and brown sugar taste to it compared to other whiskies.
If you're going to fuck up your liver, at least drink something good and mix your whiskey into a cocktail with premium ingredients.

I think they're completely gay. Terrible, too. But if you care what other people think about what you drink, you're really pathetic.

Do you like the 1920 better than the 1910? I'm trying the 1920 too right now but I'm curious about the 1910.

>> No.20056730

>>20056727
NTA, but 1920 mogs 1910, but a 50-50 mix, the '1915', is really good.

>> No.20056735

>>20056730
I've read of the DIY "1915" being really good but the 1920 was $60 and the 1910 was $53 so I wasn't really in the market to buy both at the same time.

If budget is an issue, go with the old forester 100 proof. Great bourbon, inexpensive, and readily available.

Truthfully, I haven't tried the 1910 yet. It's on my list, though.

Mine, too. I'm up a dozen or so bottles.

>> No.20058202

they've gotten away with selling people low quality liquor as mid shelf by sweetening it and making it taste like peanut butter. it's also a way to get grown men that otherwise wouldn't drink sweetened alcohol to drink that stuff, they won't turn down fireball.

it's all an exercise in marketing. and if anything relies on marketing, it's shit.

>> No.20058255

I initially got into whiskey via bourbon (and later rye). I liked both of them well enough except for some wheated bourbon I bought (Maker's Mark 101) that I hated. So I eventually got into Scotch, which is primarily what I drink now. I've gone back a few times to try bourbon and rye again and I just don't enjoy it anymore. However I tried that bottle of Maker's Mark earlier today and I actually like it now. Weird how taste works.

>> No.20058279

>>20058255
Also I still have quite a few unfinished bottles of bourbon and rye sitting around and I don't want to drink them at all. None of them are particularly expensive but I don't want to pour them out either. Shit sucks.

I concur. If you're gonna get 'flavored' spirits you're best off getting one that's made with rum or vodka, which are more neutral.

Drink whatever you want. Only insecure bitches under 30 give a shit. I'm not big on the flavored whiskeys myself. But tastes change over time, particularly with liquor. I drank a lot of cordials and schnaps in my 20's, but the very idea of that level of sweetness repulses me in my 40's.
