I bought a tub of these last week and have been taking about 20 a day (the maximum recommended dose to ensure regularity).

I feel so much better. I have a very slow, possibly dysfunctional bauel, and sometimes I struggle to BM more than once a week. This has been absolutely amazing, perfect easy schitz, feel very clean and healthy inside, no marks on the toilet paper, etc.

It's expensive as horsecocks though so I can't keep it up permanently, but maybe I'll buy a jar every 6 months or something and use it as a detox

I know what you're referring to and you information (or interpretation) is distorted.

Things to remember bruh: we have a lot of illegal but pending immigrants in detention because they rocked up undocumented; during covid their accommodations in hotels had to be *ahem* adjusted for public safety and tough shit. also, we have large communities (literal country-sized communities) of sovereign indigenous land which have nothing but problems: extremely poor public health, high crime, domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc. Australia has taken a hard no-tolerance policy to this bullshit and has banned alcohol and even pornography in gigantic swaths of this country because evidence shows those things make these problems worse. These communities are extremely vulnerable to pathogens in general, mostly due to the statistically horrid public health situation. Those communities are off-limits by default; they're sovereign territory not open to tourists or gawkers of do-gooders. During covid the gov't rightly (imo) circumvented a zombie apocalypse deathtrap scenario and locked those communities down even more than they were. Yes, this meant residents couldn't leave as they could normally, but also meant others couldn't go in and risk infection.

Tough titty. They so strongly reject outside influence they petition for their lands to made a sovereign country and quite frankly during the potential health crisis with the pandemic the gov't here accommodated responsibly, but always controversially

I've been taking probiotics at the same time this month. I know that generally probios aren't needed, but about twice a year I buy a jar and do the regimen and I swear it changes my energy levels and just general comfort immensely. That plus fibre supplements makes a huge difference.

It all started many years ago when I had my appendix get infected and by the time they go it out it had burst and part of my intestines were gangrenous. I was in hospital for 5 days with complications and heavy antibiotics the whole time. Nobody put me on probiotics when I was discharged. I ended up getting so sick and malnourished the next 6 months that I lost all my muscle (was down to ribs honestly) and my hair was falling out at age 24. I could tear my hair off like velcro. After seeing many doctors and specialists and being screened for leukemia, HIV, Crohn's disease, they finally got me to a surgeon who said "wait you had a burst appendix? how long were you on probiotics?"
"what's a probiotic?"
"oh for FUCK sake" he said

I felt a million times better in 2 fucking days and all my hair grew back within 6 months. Ever since then I dabble in probiotics just for peace of mind.

do not consume this stuff.
it can cause an intestinal blockage.
it can also make you very constipated so that passing a stool causes fissures which take over a year to heal under a strict diet to have smooth BMs.

What's your diet like? I'm starting to get worried, 26 years old and I still drink a lot of milk. I get my milk from a local farm my family has been friends with for a long time, get them per gallon, all grass fed and finished. We get eggs from them too and butter. Do you eat a lot of slop?

I drink about 10-12oz of milk every day and cheese about every other day and butter toast whenever the fuck I feel like for breakfast. I'm getting scared.

If you are new to psyllium powder there are a couple of tricks and things to know:
1. Start slow and read the recommended dose. Too much at once when you aren't adjusted can at least be painful
2. The mixed powder 'sets up' or gels fairly quickly into a sludge. That is why you should drink it within a couple of minutes and why the directions say just that.
3. Using a milk frother or other blending tool is a good way to quickly and thoroughly mix the powder. In general they're great for mixing any powder.

I've taken capsules, plain powder, flavored powder, and now whole husks, after seeing them brought up in this thread. I haven't had enough time with the husks to form a strong opinion yet, but already they seem to be the most effective. Sweetened and flavored is the easiest to get down. I can see why people would refuse to take the husks, but I've had enough bowel discomfort to be willing to drink them so long as they work, and they seem to.

For now, I'm just doing one leveled tablespoon in 12oz of water. I put the water in the glass, pour in the husks, and vigorously stir with a long spoon. The vortex formed sucks the husk down and incorporates it well enough. You can still feel the husks in the slightly gelled liquid as it goes down.

After taking it for two days, I dropped a massive solid log and finally felt emptied out after weeks of bloated backed-up feelings. It's a huge relief. At least with the husks, I can take a glass in the morning and forget about it.

>> No.20019873

>>20019854
cont.

Certainly, I'd rather take one glass of husks in the morning than have to take 20 capsules a day. I guess it depends on what you're able to stomach.
If you're a complete beginner to psyllium, I'd probably recommend the unflavored powder, unless you're desperate and willing to go to any lengths, in which case you should go with the husks. The capsules are tedious to take in my opinion, and never seem to be as effective as drinking the psyllium.

>> No.20019983

>>20019873
Capsules are the noob trap of psyllium imo. They seem more convenient and a premium product but their only benefit is that you don't taste psyllium (which is inoffensive imo). They're a trap because you need to drink the water anyway, and quickly downing a glass is what I think gives people trouble.

>> No.20020054

>>20019983
Yeah, I think they may be. I was taking around six capsules a day for just over a month with no visible effect on my regularity or bowel movement quality, but only a couple days of husks had a huge impact. I can understand if people just can't tolerate the husks, but even the sugary drink form seems more effective than capsules. I probably would have gotten some effectives if I upped the capsule count, but taking six a day is already a little annoying.

Psyllium has additional health benefits like lowering cholesterol, providing a feeling of fullness so you have less of a desire to snack, thus helping with weight maintenance, etc., that PEG doesn't have, so that's why I recommend using psyllium instead of PEG and just using PEG temporarily if/when your poop gets hard while on the psyllium.
PEG just works by binding to water in a way where water isn't reabsorbed by the gut. It just adds water to your shit. Research has found that it is tolerated well long-term with minimal side effects.

Oh, also, psyllium helps maintain blood sugar, which I imagine can help prevent you from getting the type 2 beetus.

I have taken 5mg of biscodyl every day for two years because it was the only way I wasn’t doubled over with stomach cramp and constipation.

How much have I irreparably damaged my gut?

I'd say as long as you're not losing too many electrolytes from too many cleanses in a row, you're perfectly fine. I'll just say that is an excellent product when I've taken it. It's one of the few that seems to work without much trouble so long as a toilet is nearby!

I have have made efforts to replace electrolytes, I was more worried about physical or psychological dependancies. I just can’t go back bro, I can’t do it, I feel like I can like at about 80% functionality where before it was 20%

That's good to hear. If it makes you feel any better I take a stool softener nearly everyday mainly due to my own personal issues but in my own opinion many issues related to the bowels are simply mental. Sometimes I find deep breathing helps and saying certain things while on the toilet make the process a little more smooth. I genuinely wish you the best anon as going to the bathroom can be a real hassle for me as well sometimes and there's no shame in taking a supplement if you genuinely need it.

Day 3 of this experiment: my shits are thankfully still slowly coming out, so I don't think I have a bowel obstruction, but they're small, hard, and infrequent. It feels like I'm shitting way less than I'm eating and my intestines feel overfull. I really hate this experience. I'm going to pray that it all comes out and never take this garbage again. Can't believe I got memed this way.

As long as you swallow it all the way, no problem. It absorbs a lot of water and expands, so if it is still in your throat it is not great. You're not suppose to give it to a patient that has trouble swallowing as they can choke on it.

Kek several years ago I fell for the "saltwater detox" and guzzled like half a gallon of salty water. It made me shit out clear liquid poop but otherwise didn't really do anything, bad or good. I imagine I killed a whole bunch of healthy bacteria though.
