if it grow in your yard it is sometimes easier than going to the store

produce tends to last a lot longer in my experience

It has to be moved around less before it arrives in your mouth, meaning it's potentially fresher.
Also, local producers may produce produce that you won't find on the mass market.

your local habitat will provide what you body needs to survive in that climate
example: living in the tropics has a increased risk of getting scurvy but the land provides oranges to compensate

Tends to be fresher because there's less time from harvest to sale

Tends to be cheaper for the same reason

Supports your local economy and is better for the environment, but those only matter if you care about that stuff.

Two reasons: supporting the people who might need it most, lest they sell up to developers like much of the disappearing farmland nearest to suburban areas each year. Small farmers need to stay in business too and just might if they break even, and easily pay their taxes. They'll resist rising prices on principle if they don't go belly up. The other reason is living in Florida but seeing all the oranges in the store were shipped from California, Brazil and Spain. Why are we paying truckers to drive produce that far from farms and ports. Save the planet by shopping with your dollar. I try to get Fresh from Florida istickered items when I am in Florida. From blueberries to tomatoes, probably not just nicer for the environment but will last longer in freshness.

Opting out of globohomo food
Probably has less weird shit in it than anything you can get in a chain store (including fancy/health oriented ones)

While FL and CA grow the same type of oranges the different climate make them come out very different, CA ones are dryer and have thicker skins making them better for eating but the FL oranges have very thin skins which are hard to peel and are extremely juicy making them better for juice production plus they always look like shit
