My local Arby's finally gave up the ghost. Last couple times I went there the roast beef was super dry and now hiring signs have been very prominent for the past year so I'm not too surprised. Any else have a restaurant they liked close recently?

Post some of the reviews for there OP, I can’t copy the full text because I’m phone posting but the Yelp reviews for that location are terrible.

I can't find them on Yelp but the most common complaint on google reviews is "they were closed at 5pm wtf." LOL at this random 5* from a month ago, must have caught them on a good hour.

You sometimes get mexicans that really bust their ass and resent the hell out of anyone who doesn't.

Apparently the Chinese dine in restaurant we've been going to for 25 years is closing soon. Covid + inflation probably did them in, although I can't imagine the rise in pho and ramen shops have helped, it's definitely not a hip zoomer type of food.
They used to be relatively cheap for the amount of food you got so you could tolerate it being greasy, oily and not that good, but last year or two every store in the area have doubled their prices, it's just not worth it now.

chinese places come and go as old owners retire then die and newer generations close up and sell

That's possible, I know their daughter was working there doing the orders most times I've gone, if the son wasn't interested in taking over that might be the end reason, or a factor if it was starting to fail as well. Something similar happened to the chicken shop I preferred in the same area, one asian couple took over and ran it for a decade, and seemingly sold or passed it on to a younger pair. But they didn't last long, and then the next people lasted even less and not long after covid ended the place was gutted and it got turned into a really shitty kebab place and I'm certain is going to fail as well because it's the 5th kebab shop in the same 'strip mall' type area and it's the worst of them.
My usual barber shop has gone as well, the old guy retired or died during covid, and the next guy who took over wasn't making enough so it's empty as well.

This seems to be happening at quite a few fast food places. The Taco Bell near me for a while would only open the door for Door Dash and Uber Eats despite the hours posted on the door claiming the dining room was open most of the day. Think corporate got some complaints because now the website/app have hours updated constantly though the actual hours are still usually an hour later opening and closing an hour or two before the posted hours. The drive-thru seems to be operating on posted hours.

I havent eaten goyslop in about a year and that was because it was my only choice. Fast food can die for all I care, overpriced shit poorly slapped together by monkeys who forget simple orders.
Lots of places around my town seem to have very little business at the drive throughs around lunch time. I think the only one I still see busy is Mcdonalds

I don't know how most chains stay in business. They must be losing money daily and only kept open because they can afford to. Chikfila and InNOut are the only places I see that have consistent customers anytime I drive by them. The rest you can barely tell if they are open or not.

Even our good, successful one close eventually. It's just how it is. The days of local establishments going for 50 years or more as local family institutions are gone, I'm afraid. The best you will get is a proprietor who does 10-15 years then sells it off (and the next guy tanks it). Going franchise doesn't really happen anymore either. Most chains are cooked-up to be chains from concepts.
