FFS, it took this thread long enough to get here.
Also acceptable:
*give it to someone who runs a biodiesel vehicle
*if it's fresh enough, heat to just around 150F and strain through a filter lined steel seive, let cool and put it back in original or an empty 2 liter bottle with a funnel.
* BURN in a firepit.
really depends on what kind of oil it is, and what's been fried in it, but NEVER think that just heating even slightly rancid oil up to temp will get you anything but a night of vomiting at the very LEAST.

I read that if you pour it down the drain with a generous amount of dish soap and hot water it’s not a problem desu

As a renter I always poured oil done the drain. My land lord had ti spend like 30k to get a sewer line replaced last year but couldn’t prove what apartment of of the three the oil came from. Can’t legally raise the rent in my city either.
Sorry, Not my problem lmao. Gonna start pouring shit down my toilet now too

wait for it to cool mostly, pour it in your storage container, add water. freeze. if it still doesn't look perfectly clean then allow the oil to thaw slightly and separate it from the ice at the bottom. repeat until it looks clean like butter when solidified.

>> No.19897167

It's literally garbage, dude. Put it in whatever empty container you have and take it out with the rest of your trash. I don't understand why this is confusing to some people.

That’s like $10 down the drain everytime you deep fry smth then that can’t be right?

>> No.19897552

>>19897504
Obviously if the oil is still good you strain it and reuse it. The OP seemed to imply he didn't know what to do with the oil afterwards. $10 worth of oil should last a few uses, but it really depends on what you're doing. The thing about deep frying at home is that it's more worthwhile the more you're doing at one time. If you had the space and money, buying a full sized restaurant deep fryer would honestly be less work and less money after the initial purchase than pouring a couple courts into a pot on the stove and then having to deal with it, as it's easier to clean and the amount of oil you use allows for many more uses before going off or even needing filtering.
