In 1970 Grace returned to Ireland after a number of years in Canada to open his first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Phibsboro shopping centre in Dublin. Eventually he opened another six restaurants located in Dublin, Limerick and Cork. After disagreements over cost cutting with KFC management in the early 1980s, the Irish restaurants were renamed to Pat Grace's Famous Fried Chicken reportedly retaining the original recipe. These stores were closed in the late 1980s. Pat Grace went on to wholesale the chicken spice blend under the brand Grace's Perfect Blend.

well I recently did a taste test with KFC original recipe, and with Graces.

first the coating has a very strong and distinct taste and smell with rosemary, sage, and thyme predominent other "herbs and spices" were hard to determine. but I know it has salt, pepper, and msg as well.

second I noticed that sometimes when I would eat KFC there would be a l blob of under cooked breading. this breading smelled and tasted exactly like graces, and when I made my chicken sometimes I would get those uncooked blobs on my chicken and they tasted the same.

also when I served it to people they said it tasted exactly the same as KFC.

I find this humorous though because 99% of the flavor is cooked out during the deep frying process. either way it taste exactly the same as KFC.

well no, they rinse their chicken with water, shake it a certain number of times, then drop the chicken in the breading, where they mix it from bottom to top (hard to explain). take the chicken out, tap it twice then set it on the racks for the fryer.

the hard part to replicate is I don't have 50 lbs of breading to mix it in to, and the right kind of fryer. They cost $11,000.

still it's damn near exactly the same. I wanted to buy this stuff several years ago, but they only sold it in bags of 30lbs (or something like that).

Where I went to college we had a weekly juggling thing that I went to in order to fulfill my "PE" credit, and it was a combination of students and professionals who were able to use the venue on the condition that they'd help out the students, but everyone kind of just stayed on their own side of the auditorium. Anyway, I was one of the better students, and just kind of kept to myself and ran through my own exercises and routines and pretty much zoned out, and maybe occasionally passed clubs with a qt who was the only one there I ever really talked to. It was all really just relaxing and zen like. One day the guy who ran the thing came up to me (I'd actually gotten really good at that time and was probably doing weird improvisational 4-ball shit without thinking which he mistook for patterns) and asked if I knew about "math juggling". I was like, "uhh, no...?" With a big smile on his face he started explaining it to me, and it involved counting your throws and then doing some calculations or something or other and I almost immediately cut him off and had to explain that that sounded like the most terrible sounding thing I'd ever had suggested to me, and the complete opposite of why I was there.

That's what that clip immediately reminded me of. I was in all the college prep and AP math classes in high school and never struggled while barely studying, but it's SO boring, and "math jokes" are SO dumb.
