It's not bad it's just that where I live there's no shortage of better chinese/teriyaki. Love my general tso/pork teriyaki/gyoza combo. Also comes with a salad but I usually save it for later.

I have eaten here 3 different times, 3 different locations:
1. Rice was uncooked and crunchy
2. Rice was uncooked and crunchy, chicken was dry and bland
3. Didn't have any shit I wanted, whole thing was terrible

You are right - they are consistently terrible. I much rather go to my local chinese or korean takeout. They are consistently good. How do you even fuck up rice when you have a rice cooker in the back? It boggles the mind.

I do, because I get consistently shit food from them. They take my money and give me shit food, that is all the reason I need to hate them. And it wasn't because of Lawry's Americans either, or just a one off bad place. ALL of them were bad for me. I have zero good experiences from PE. ZERO. And I have been very generous in giving them multiple tries.

Price went up everywhere, though. It's still a good deal for a plate compared to similar options. It's also enough portion to last at least 2 meals if you dont compulsively pain-eat like a fatass like me. Also if you go right before close they'll give you like an extra pound of food for no reason.

>the food is always fresh
This is not a shred of truth in this statement. The food is prepared in massive batches meant to sit for hours under a heat lamp. I eat there a lot because there's no better chinese options near me and I would say its 30/70 chance I get food that has any freshness.
>portions are good
This is false as well, they have skimped down on meat portions so much sometimes I wonder if I order the broccoli beef one day it will just be a giant plate of broccoli and nothing else. As well as going from serving hot made in house sweet and sour sauce to pre portioning it in plastic cups to now just a shitty ketchup package shipped from god knows where and they will only give you a couple of them and half the time they are out because somehow sugar, water and red food dye are rare resources now.
>the food is consistent
Yeah consistently mediocre, everything has one taste, overwhelming sweetness or blandness. It's butchered takeout chinese worse than mcdonalds butchered the hamburger. Fuck Panda and fuck you for making this shit thread.

It's genuinely better than most Chinese sit down restaurants

>> No.19879660

Most of the Chinese restaurants around me charge about $8 to $9 for a full plate of really good food, plus soup or egg roll. Panda express charges the same or more for less food that doesn't taste as good. Don't hate Panda Express, just think its the McDonald's of Chinese food.

ehh, it's low tier, but so are a lot of authentic family chinese takeouts. The only thing I don't make better at home is probably mushroom egg foo young.

If I crave chinese, I am always better off doing my own stir fry beef (filet) or chicken (white meat), or twice cooked pork, with a doctored up sauce that contains fresh ginger, fresh citrus, and far more flavor. I also want chili crisp on my fluffy steamed jasmine rice to serve. Frozen steam in bag brown rice is fine.I I am alright using frozen egg rolls, pork buns, or pork dumplings for the appetizer, or just marinating some cucumbers in ponzu or seasoned vinegar, splash of fish sauce or toasted sesame oil. Egg drop soup is easy mode and fun to make.

It's good but you have to find a franchise that actually cooks it well. My previous chinky gf here from PRC on a student visa loves it, but my new chinky gf who was adopted from PRC by a white lady as a toddler hates it because "the chicken is too hard." I personally like Panda Express, but I've had bad experiences with it too. It just depends on who's cooking it.

My experience has been the exact opposite. The meat was overly tenderized and flavorless, the sauce full of sugar and the portions were too small. My local Chinese restaurant, run by actual Chinese people, can make much better food, in larger portions, for the same price.

Objectively speaking I can give it a generous 7/10 if you come at the perfect time when somehow everything has just come out the wok fresh and you get that one cute girl working who gives you bigger portions because you were nice to her.
If you get the white write and bejing beef with a few fresh wontons it's not too bad. But this happens maybe once in every 50 visits so it's not something you can count on. 99% of the time your experience will be a 3 or 4 out of 10 with lukewarm grease sogged rice that has been under the heatlamp for 2 hours and you get a fat and surly mexican lady who gives you exactly 6 pieces of meat and scowls at you if you ask for teriyaki sauce. It really isn't worth taking the chance when you can go almost anywhere else and have a better experience for less money.

It’s fine.

People larp like their average Chinese restaurant is some master of cooking but it’s just cheap ingredients and gutter oil without a calorie count.

Panda Express prepares the food within eyesight with fresh ingredients and the ones here are busy enough no food is out more than 30 m. Always some deal as well. Midwits say the same shit about chipotle vs their local taqueria.

Not true at all unless you go during restock time (dinner time). Orange chicken is restocked the most frequent but even it can get really dry depending on customers
Portions/price are okay. It is consistent because it all comes precooked in freeze dried bags (beyond the staleness from sitting on steamer tray for hours).
