As for me, it's the cheap knife. I've had one like this for about 20 years and it's still a great knife. I reckon it has another 10 years left before the wooden handle falls apart.

if it diced it instead of slicing, it would be useful
but I just shred my eggs on a cheese grater instead

Now it's diced. It's a handy tool and faster and cleaner than a knife.

An egg slicer is a lot easier for slicing eggs, even if you have a really sharp knife. It's also good for making chopped egg, and that's useful in based dishes like kedgeree.

I pickled a ton of eggs last June and use an egg slicer whenever I add one to a salad. It helps me easily get more egg in each bite it's also less effeminate than speculating about why people own logical tools.

These are a godsend when you come home at midnight after a double shift and just need to eat something hot before passing out.
Don't get the type in that pic that tries to cut the sangewedges in half, though. They make a mess if you make anything with cheese and they can be a hassle to clean.

And hot chirri. I did a whole batch for hot relish once by hand, without gloves, and aside from the annoyance of chopping for like 35 minutes my left hand was burning for a good 2 days afterward. Bought this chopper the next week and Ho-lee-phuc I could have done the same batch in like 2.5mins

The handheld rotary cheese grater. It grates cheese. Maybe other soft things but really just cheese. No more fucking up your knuckles trying to grate that last corner of the block. No jacking off a metal tower full of holes. All the kinetic energy goes towards grating due to the rotary action, not just half, so grating takes half as much energy and time. Most disassemble into components so cleaning is pretty easy. Once you get one, you'll never go back.
