1 pound of potato contains only 300 to 400 calories, and that is assuming the entire weight is eaten without any discarded as waste. Potatoes are over $.45 per pound in my country. This is not a good deal. Even if I were willing to pay such extreme prices, potatoes are mostly water and thus net fewer calories per shopping trip than alternative carby staples. Potatoes also rot fast and feed pests. People who purchase potatoes are fools.
