Microwave baked potato. Rinse it, poke it with a fork, stick it in a bag for 5-6 minutes. Butter, hot sauce, salt, black pepper, shredded cheese, red pepper flakes. If I have it I’ll add sour cream, fried bacon or hot dog bits and green onion. This is less so poverty and more depression, as it’s very quick and easy to make. For just cheap meals, I’ll make a big-ass pot of chili and rice and eat it as every other meal for like 4 days until I want to kill myself.

Deep fried chicken tenders are cheap to make. My chicken tenders are better than anything you can get at Church's or Popeye's or KFC or any sort of fast food joint. It's inexpensive to make, you would call it "poverty food" but it is traditional food. These tendies are not for sale, but made purely out of love.

>> No.19835658

This probably doesn't quite qualify as poverty tier compared to something like hot dogs in man and cheese, but it'll keep you pretty well fed for 3-4 days with ~$20 in ingredients.
-boil pasta of choice
-scramble six eggs with a canned salmon (leave the bones in and just mash them with a fork)
-mix scramble with pasta and a jar of sauce
If you stop there, you'll have some acceptable slop, but if you spoon out whatever you're going to eat at the moment and fry it up with some olive oil and parmesean it makes a huge difference towards being actually enjoyable. Add hot sauce to taste.

>Poverty is specifically being in a food desert
If you live in a city you can either take a bus or just walk to an area with better food availability. 20 minutes walk will take you a mile in any direction giving you a two mile diameter around your home to walk to to get food. Make that 30 or 40 minutes and it's a 3-4 mile diameter circle. Food deserts are mostly only a good excuse in rural areas where people without cars are fucked.

I used to get 2 of those and a big jar of jalapeños, dump the brine and both 40s into a big pitcher and sip that concoction while smoking a wood tip black and mild and snacking of the jalapeño rings.
